Lucky for us and the town’s sightseers, we are based next door to some of Australia’s most stunning wine country. Which means the best drops are available just down the road.

With too many wonderful wineries to count along the 10km Coonawarra strip, we are absolutely spoilt for choice when it comes to opening a bottle.

Pay a visit to the small family-owned cellar door at Balnaves as you make your way through the famous Coonawarra Terra Rossa landscape. With a wine room overlooking a tranquil pond full of bird life, surrounded by vineyards and over 900 beautiful rose bushes you'll be at your most relaxed while tasting a beautiful collection of current vintage wines.

If you’re feeling a little adventurous, take home their Sparkling Cabernet, a perfect bottle for your next picnic lunch. There’s no denying it’s a crowd pleaser.

Inside or out, amongst the vines or camped with the family at Bellwether Cellar Door, a wine in hand from any of our local producers is the icing on the cake in a serene country setting.
